What is an F1 Goldendoodle?

Some people like to learn as they go while others like to do their homework. If you fall into the latter group, you’re going to do some research before making a decision like adding a Goldendoodle puppy to your family. Maybe you’ve come across the term, “F1 Goldendoodle” and you’re not quite sure what that means. Here’s some information to help you understand that term.

What is an F1 Goldendoodle?

Those unfamiliar with Goldendoodles or dog breeding may not know what F1 means.

Simply put, an F1 Goldendoodle is a first generation Goldendoodle. First generation Goldendoodles will have one Poodle parent and one Golden Retriever parent.

Our F1 Goldendoodle puppies, for example, typically have an AKC Standard Poodle Sire, and an AKC Golden Retreiver Dam. We have English Cream as well as American Golden Retreiver Dams, all of which are registered with the American Kennel Club.

What traits do F1 Goldendoodles have?

F1 Goldendoodles are the pups that come to mind when you the Goldendoodle dog breed.

First generation Goldendoodle puppies are incredibly sweet and loving. This means that they love to play, they’re social, and they’re eager to please.

F1 Goldendoodle puppies are also very intelligent, obedient, and loyal, which makes them easy to train and great companions.

While Goldendoodles have a great reputation for their smarts and their wonderful temperament, they’re best known for their appearance.

F1 Goldendoodles have those gorgeous, thick, wavy coats that make Goldendoodles so irresistible. Most F1 Goldendoodles shed very little, and many do not shed at all.

First generation Goldendoodle puppies can have white, cream, red, apricot, silver, or chocolate coats.
