Consider the cost and commitment
Everyone wants a puppy, but not everyone has the time or resources to actually raise a puppy. Think honestly and critically, and determine whether or not the person is ready for a puppy.

Exclaiming, “I want to take all of the puppies in the world home with me!!!” is not the same thing as seriously stating, “After a lot of thought and contemplation, I am ready to get a dog, and I am prepared for all of the responsibilities involved with dog ownership.”

Make sure that the person actually wants to add a member to their family before surprising them with a life that depends on them for survival.

However you decide to do it, make sure you’ve planned through the logistics of gifting a puppy to make the moment perfect.
Remember the necessities
Your new puppy needs more than just your love and affection. Maybe the experience of going shopping for food, dog bowls, a collar, and a leash with your new puppy is part of the gift.
If not, consider providing those things, or encourage someone else to gift those items instead.
