Are you looking to add a Goldendoodle to your family, but would like a smaller version? If so, a Miniature Goldendoodle — a Mini Goldendoodle — would be a perfect fit for you!
A standard Goldendoodle grows up to weight 50 to 90 pounds. A medium Goldendoodle tips the scales at 35 to 50 pounds. Since there’s no such thing as a toy Golden Retriever, there really is no such thing as a toy Goldendoodle the way you can find a toy Poodle. Mini Goldendoodles run 20 to 25 pounds, with dogs up to 35 pounds sometimes being called minis.
At Platinum Goldies, in order for us to get the smaller miniature Goldendoodles that we prefer, we start off with first crossing one of our smaller Golden Retrievers to a Moyen Poodle. This in turn produces what we call our medium size F1 Goldendoodles. Take note, this first cross is not a mini, but a medium.
Next, we have held back some of our top medium size females and then bred them back to a miniature poodle. This second cross is Platinum Goldies miniature line. They are f1b Minaiture Goldendoodles, so they do not shed and are allergy friendly. The average weight per puppy is approx. 25 lbs.
As top quality breeders of Goldendoodles, we feel this is the best way to insure that our puppies have the best over all body build. If, we took a straight Golden Retriever and breed straight to a Mini or Toy Poodle, you might come out with a very uneven litter.
Mini Goldendoodles available now
